S.B. 2009
Well Spring Break was a bit of a let down. It felt like it ended on the Tuesday after it started because it rained and was freezing cold outside. I think it rained for like three straight days...=( We needed the rain don't get me wrong but it prevented us from getting out and doing ANYTHING! Hopefully it will pay off and there will be a billion bluebonnets!! Luke and I were going to take a trip to San Antonio and go to the river walk and roam around the city but as you already know that was shot once the rain came. The only plus to it being rainy and cold outside was that I got to spend some QUALITY time with my love=) We had many opportunities to cuddle up on the couch with a blanked and catch many a flick... It was so nice being with Luke for a few days STRAIGHT without any work or school or other obligations there to interrupt us. There is no one that I enjoy spending time with more than that man.. We laugh and just enjoy each others company and it's so nice to have someone to do that with.
In addition to doing that with Luke, my mom and I made Chelsey's 200 wedding invitations OURSELVES! Unless you just want to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on invitations making your own is a great alternative. That way you get to pick exactly what you want color and pattern wise and how you want it to look and plus it's more personalized AND is a fraction of the cost! There are so many great idea's out there for the taking. There are all sorts of card making books that give great ideas and you'd be surprised at what's out there if you just have the time to look. Here is one website that I like The only downside to making your own is that you have to go out and find all the supplies.. colors of paper specifically can be a pain...otherwise it's a great way to cut cost.. I mean because honestly most people will throw them away or lose them.
How did your S.B. turn out??

Memories............
So I substituted 2nd graders today and we went to the museum at Baylor.. we of course had to ride the bus over to Baylor and I haven't been on a bus since I was in high school..
Being on the bus just made me remember all the times that I stepped on and rode the "yellow dog" as my dad likes to say=).. and smelling the smells and being tossed around on the bumpy ride (most people hate it but I always enjoyed it)..made me miss playing volleyball and especially basketball.. isn't it funny how a smell can trigger your memory..??
I remember being in sweats or shorts and piling onto the bus with my two ton sports bag filled with EVERYTHING I could possibly want/need.. my ipod and pillow and a blanket were a MUST! It was nice mellowing out for a short or long while, depending on how far we had to drive to face our opponents and preparing for the game I was about to play usually surrounded by my sweet friends at the back of the bus far away from the annoying underclassmen:)~ The ride home usually consisted of some sort of silliness and talk about the boys we liked or dreading how much we were going to have to run the next day at practice. Those were some of the most fun memories to me. No it wasn't anything EXTRAORDINARY but it was simple times and simple fun. I will always miss playing basketball and wish I had pursued it in college.
You never know what you are going to encounter each day that will take you back in time.....
It's hump day yay!! Weekend come on and get here!

Francesca Battistelli: My Paper Heart
Don't know how it is You looked at me
And saw the person that I could be
Awakening my heart
Breaking through the dark
Suddenly Your grace
Like sunlight burning at midnight
Making my life something so
Beautiful, beautiful
Mercy reaching to save me
All that I need
You are so
Beautiful, beautiful
Now there's a joy inside I can't contain
But even perfect days can end in rain
And though it's pouring down
I see You through the clouds
Shining on my face
Like sunlight burning at midnight
Making my life something so
Beautiful, beautiful
Mercy reaching to save me
All that I need
You are so
Beautiful, beautiful
I have come undone
But I have just begun
Changing by Your grace
Like sunlight burning at midnight
Making my life something so
Beautiful, beautiful
Mercy reaching to save me
All that I need
You are so beautiful
Like sunlight burning at midnight
Making my life something so
Beautiful, beautiful
Mercy reaching to save me
All that I need
You are so
Beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful, beautiful

Devotional
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law oh Christ." Galatians 6:2
This is from a Women of Faith book called "Irrepressible Hope" and this particular devotional was written by Nicole Johnson and is titled "Stained-Glass Redemption"
I will just paraphrase the story.. Basically Nicole talks about how she was moving across the country and how most of her loved possessions were broken in the moving process (her great grandmother's antique rocking chair's arm was broken in two and her stained glass was shattered)..Things that were irreplaceable and held a special place in her heart were broken forever. She talks about how she actually felt like her own arm had been broken off and how she just cried.. I think we have all been in this situation where something precious to us has been broken or ruined beyond repair. She went on to say how a friend helped her pick up the pieces of glass and throw them away.
She says that on the journey of life many things that are most personal to us and have enormous value get broken. It makes us feel wounded, shattered and things that were once whole are in pieces on the ground and we often don't know what to do next...We often cry and grieve then after a while we start to pick up the pieces and clean up the mess. Sometimes we see another pair of hands lean down and help pick up the pieces and these hands help heal and hold along with our broken dreams.
Later in the story she tells about her friend that helped pick up the pieces of glass and how she took them to a women who made a whole new piece of art using those broken pieces. She talks about how beautiful it is to her because of all the brokenness it came from.
This is my favorite part of the story....Nicole says....
"This is the most powerful picture of what we are to do with all the broken pieces of our live.. When we are shattered, wounded, and fragmented by life, we should never throw away the pieces. After we cry and grieve, then we need to bend down and start to pick them up. Then with other helping hands, we bring the pieces to God. And the Craftsman redeems them. He makes them something new, beautiful, interesting, and WHOLE. And his light shines through it, showing off all the colors and shapes of our brokenness."
I can't say that everyone has had some instance in their life that they have been so wonded and broken from a situation.. I know I have though and I am/have been picking up the broken pieces and handing them to the Lord to make something beautiful in my life out of the pieces. Life is hard and I'm learning this more and more over the past few years. Sometimes its going to be pretty overwhelming and hard but know there is someone who can make sense and something beautiful out of all the whirlwind gives me some peace.
I hope everyone is having a good Monday and start to the week! Be a blessing to someone today:o)
